Exec PGDM SCM syllabus

Supply Chain Management, Ex-PGDM, XIME. April 09 - June 09.


Objective : To give the students the importance of the process of supply chain management, the importance of variability of demand, managing inventory, planning demand and supply, important concepts related to SCM. To make the students appreciate the importance of managing and controlling inventory and the distribution system configuration.

Syllabus :

Supply Chain Drivers and Metrics
Designing Distribution networks, uncertain environment
Planning demand and supply in the supply chain, managing predictable variability
Playing the Beer Distribution Game distribution side dynamics.
Planning and managing inventories in the SC, cycle inventory, safety inventory, level of product availability
Value of Information, Bullwhip Effect, causes, benefits of information sharing.
Designing and Planning Transportation networks, domestic and international, Global logistics and Risk management.
Sourcing decisions - factors affecting, Revenue Management, perishable assets, over-booking, bulk and spot contracts.
Information Technology and co-ordination in the supply chain. Delayed product differentiation, mass customisation.
